German giants Bayern Munich have shown interest in FC Barcelona's back line leader Ronald Araújo. According to Sky Germany, the Bavarian's Sporting Director has already talked to the Uruguayan on a phone call.

Christoph Freund explained the defender of Die Bayern's plans in an attempt to convince Ronald. Bayern has promised to pay a record fee if the player gives the green signal for the move.

Freund said that he doesn't want to get into details as there's not much optimism regarding the signing.

"The transfer phase is looming, in principle there are some discussions, but I don’t want to say anything about that in detail."

The Uruguayan defender has an unusual €1 billion release clause. This atypical clause was set in order to secure the most important players of the squad. These clauses send a powerful message to other clubs, which puts the players in the 'untouchable' zone.

Barcelona's Financial Issues and Squad Depth

Although implausible but the Blaugranes might just let the defender slip out of their hands for a record fee. Of the 1/100 chance that Barça decide to take this route, it will purely be for financial reasons.

There are only extreme views regarding the transfer rumor. Some sources say that it isn't even a possibility of Barcelona letting their back line leader go. Araújo's release clause confirms the claim of his untouchability.

Analyzing both the sides of the spectrum, if Bayern are ready to pay a 'world record fee', the Bluagranes can loosen up their salary slips. This can help the club fill the holes in their squad.

FC Barcelona's squad is still under construction. Cules realized this after an embarrassing 2-4 defeat to league leaders Girona. Now the Blaugranes stand at 4th place in La Liga behind Girona, Atletico and Real Madrid.

Fans might not realize this yet, but there is still a long way to go till Barça start enjoying their former glory under the new generation.
