According to these reports, Baena is very open to a transfer to the Blaugrana as the Catalan club search for affordable wide attacking talent this summer.

The 22-year-old star would like to test himself at a higher level and feels that Barca's style of play would be ideal for his qualities.

Barcelona are strapped for cash and racked with off-the-pitch controversy, but they are still keen to strengthen their wide attacking options ready for a renewed attempt to take on Real Madrid in La Liga next season.

Baena is an excellent all-round attacker who is versatile and can play in a number of different forward roles with his best positions probably being on the left hand side.

He doesn't score a lot of goals but creates plenty of chances with a massive fourteen assists last season for Villarreal as they finished eighth.

Of course it remains to be seen if the Blaugrana will make a move to bring Baena in this summer or whether this is just a purely speculative story.

On the same theme, it is true that Barca are on the lookout for wide attacking talent and there are continuing rumours that the club are still very interested in bringing Liverpool's Luis Diaz to La Liga.

Diaz's future - along with that of quite a few other Reds players - is uncertain with the change in regime at Anfield after Jurgen Klopp left at the end of the season to be replaced by Arne Slot.

Barcelona Director of Football Deco is a keen admirer of the Colombian forward and wants to get a deal done for a player who seemed to have lost his way a little in English football last season.
