Would Real Madrid turn the tables in the official matches against FC Barcelona again?
- FC Barcelona has suffered a different fate in El Clasico rivalries in the friendlies and the official season.
- Would Real Madrid turn the tables in the official matches against FC Barcelona again?
FC Barcelona has defeated Real Madrid in a dominating fashion as the Blaugrana club seemed enough for Ancelotti's Real Madrid. From Pau Victor's sensational show, a brilliant effort from Alex Valle in the full-back role, and rock-solid Faye at the Barca backline, this win was almost perfect for FC Barcelona.
With this win, Barcelona has completed the hattrick of wins against Los Angeles in the Preseason Tour on the US Turf. Having won it 1-0 in the 2022/23 season and an incredible 3-0 in the 2023/24 season, and now in the 2-1 style, Barca has gotten the better of Real Madrid in the last few friendlies.
Would Real Madrid turn the tables in the official matches against FC Barcelona again?
However, the situation looks a bit unfavorable to the Blaugrana club as far as their last few official El Clasico encounters are concerned. Of the previous five meetings of the two Spanish giants in the league competitions, Real Madrid has had a dominating upper hand against the Catalan club, managing four wins and a single loss. Thus, the question arises: would Real Madrid turn the tables in the official matches against FC Barcelona again?
Taking nothing away from FC Barcelona's overall team performance today, there were certain areas in which things could have done better. In Flick's words,
""In some situations, we collapse too much during the match, and do not put pressure on the rival player who has the ball.""
- Hansi Flick
The German manager looked upset with the team to the point of not pressing against Ancelotti's side the whole match. Moreover, there looked certain opportunities where much casual play was entertained by Barca, including Nico Paz's unmarked goal. Not only this but despite a brilliant effort from the Blaugrana defense, luck was a crucial factor that worked in Barca's favor tonight.
As expected, whenever the ball looked around Vini Jr.'s feet, there looked a chance that the Catalan team might concede a goal. On top of that was the confidence with which Madrid boss Ancelotti spoke in the media address. Ancelotti remarked on the loss, saying,
""This match is not important; we are missing many players... This is to regain our fitness. That's it""
- Carlo Ancelotti
Real Madrid is the best European club in football history not only because of their playing skills but mostly because of their mentality to never give up. Thibaut Courtois, following his manager's steps, went on to say,
""We don't like losing to Barcelona, but what matters is the season. As Carvajal said last year, when the peak time comes, we will see!""
- Thibaut Courtois
Thus, all in all, despite finishing on the losing side in the preseason El Clasico, the Madrid club has given a clear indication of what they would deliver when the big matches arrive. Hence, even though Barcelona has been in top-notch form recently, they must work on their mistakes to not repeat the scenario of continuous Clasico defeats on bigger occasions.
