According to Fabrizio Romano, FC Barcelona have officially made contact and opened talks with Bournemouth’s 20-year-old forward, Eli Junior Kroupi.
After scoring 13 goals in his debut Premier League season with an electrifying campaign, the French attacking prospect has been considered an exciting option to step in as a potential Plan B to the Blaugrana. However, prying the young forward away from England is going to prove a tremendously arduous job.
The Premier League market overpricing issue
While Barcelona are determined not to immediately close the doors on the transfer in its entirety, reaching an agreement feels like an extremely far- fetched prospect given the massive, astronomical price tag attached to the Premier League asset.
- Bournemouth’s reluctance: The Premier League team is not keen in the slightest on letting their current most important player depart a year after signing him.
- The asking price: Bournemouth have slapped a figure of roughly 130 million euros on their French striker, and are only prepared to negotiate if an absurd offer is tabled.
Given Barcelona's financial situation, splashing over 100 million euros on the signing of a second choice striker appears unrealistic. In the current scenario, Barcelona are likelly to hold firm in their stance and to start the season without a new centerpiece for the attack.
