The MSN trident have been a great attacking trio for years now. However, are the MSN trident of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar irreplaceable?
MSN. The famed trio that strikes pure terror in the minds of the greatest defenders. A forward line which has, arguably, the three best players in the world, at present. Since October 2014 ,when the three first played together, the trio has already racked up 200-plus goals.
Lionel Messi had already achieved god-like status when Neymar arrived at Barcelona. He has been there since he was 12 years old and had already reveled in great success during the Guardiola-era. Neymar arrived amidst a transfer fraud scandal and a new managerial appointment. While Barca went trophy-less in the 2013-14 season, Neymar shined and showed the world that he could play alongside Messi and still not be in his shadows.
Then came Suarez. He came of the back of scandalous world cup which featured the infamous biting incident. Due to this, he could only play his first game in October which coincidentally was against Real Madrid. Suarez too had a wonderful first season, in which Barcelona won the famed treble. MSN clicked wonderfully that season and delivered some breathtaking solo and team performances. The following season too, MSN shined once again and broke their own record of 122 goals by a forward line, set the previous season. Barcelona also won the domestic double.
In the time that the three have been together at Barcelona , they have received widespread acclaim and accolades from all. They have scored a stupendous amount of goals and have achieved great success. So can they be replaced and if so then by whom?

In my opinion, the three are irreplaceable. The are unique players who crop up only once in a blue moon. Maybe homegrown talent can replace one or the other, but it will take some serious luck to produce three players of this caliber. With that in mind, it should be noted that world football is producing some serious talent right now. There are some young guns who are showing immense potential like Paulo Dybala, Ousmane Dembele, Dele Alli ,etc.
These players have the potential to develop into great players who may well prove to be world beaters. Barcelona’s management needs to be ready with replacements for the trio, who can handle pressure and deliver when the need to. While this may seem like a daunting task, one should not forget the story of Messi and how he was able to successfully replace Ronaldinho.
