Celta has now developed a reputation for grooming Barcelona coaches. This is occurring since Luis Enrique switched Celta Vigo for Barcelona. Eduardo Berizzo replaced Lucho at the Balaidos. And now, Luis Enrique has announced his departure from Barcelona when his contract expires. But Berizzo’s contract expires on the same date as Lucho’s, 30th June. Berizzo will reportedly be looking to apply for Barca job when his deal expires.
He is a very good manager. He has built on Lucho’s work at Celta and turned the side into one of the most attacking teams in the La Liga. Berizzo has employed a passing and high-pressing tactic and it has led to very entertaining soccer. He even led his side to victory against Luis Enrique’s Barca side.
But he has no idea what Barcelona stands for. The board is always looking for ex-players who know what the Barca philosophy is, and in Berizzo’s case, it is a major drawback. There is a high possibility that he will continue Lucho’s work here, just like he did at Celta, but there are questions about how he will do it.
Oscar Garcia is a gamble but he fulfills the criteria of the Barcelona board
Oscar Garcia was a attacking midfielder in his playing days. He was part of the Barcelona squad during the days of Johan Cruyff. This has basically changed mindset to tiki-taka. He has implemented this in every team he has managed, and to success. He even assisted Johan Cruyff during his tenure as Catelonia national team’s manager.

Garcia’s reign as head coach of Red Bulls Salzburg has been his most successful till date. He got the best out of ex-Barca player Jonathan Soriano and led the side to the title.
His pressing-style of play suits Barcelona’s philosophy. But he is a gamble as he has never managed in a top European league and has never dealt with high-profile players.
Oscar Garcia might elevate the club to a new level, or he might lead it to danger.
