By Laieke Abebe
FC Barcelona’s Vice President Jordi Mestre gave his thoughts on Barca drawing Juventus In the Champions League Quarterfinals.
In the Champions League, many teams from around Europe compete to see who has the best club team in the continent. As the competition gets into the knockout stages the opponents begin to get tougher. PSG gave Barca a scare winning 4-0 in the first leg of their round of 16 matchup. However, Barca came roaring back winning 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals. Despite the good vibe around the club, the draw was tough for Barca, but Vice President Jordi Mestre expected it.
Jordi Mestre was vocal about getting Juventus in the Champions League quarterfinal draw. This draw means that former Barca defender Dani Alves will return to his former home in the second leg of the tilt. The Catalans are very familiar with Juve as they faced off in the 2015 Champions League final. Despite some adversity, the match saw the Blaugrana win 3-1 completing the historic European Treble for the second time in the history of the club. Mestre believes things will be tough and Barca has to score an away goal.

"“The draw is the draw. There are no easy teams in the quarterfinals but we always get tough ties. It won’t be easy against Juve, who we played in the final two years ago. There’s a good dynamic at the moment and morale is sky-high but that doesn’t mean we’re going to go through — I respect Juve a lot. The advantage of playing the second leg at home is conditioned a lot by what happens in the first game — we hope it’s not the same as Paris. We have to score in Turin.”Mestre to beIN on the Juve Draw"

Overall, the draw will be tough for Barca to overcome. PSG is a really talented team. However, Juventus are even better. As stated in the beginning, the opponents get tougher as the rounds go on. There will be no slouch on the other side of the pitch for Barca. They will have to be at their best in the first leg because Juventus will punish teams that sleep on them. Although, a 4-0 defeat in the first leg seems unlikely to happen again, Juve are capable of scoring and hold teams at bay for long stretches. We’ll see how Barca respond in the next stage of the competition.
