More from Everything Barca

The former Levante midfielder entered the field of management in 1997 with Lealtad. Since then, he has risen to the top brass of Spanish football. Marcelino has managed Sevilla and Villareal to moderate success.

In the pre-season leading up to the 2016-17 season, he was sacked by Villareal. This was due to his differences with the Villareal board.

Marcelino has aided the development of players like Mario, Denis Suarez and Samu Castillejo. His best achievement during his time with Villareal was getting the best out of Bruno. Bruno is a late bloomer and he owes it to Marcelino.

Though he has not managed a top class side yet, Marcelino did an impressive job with The Yellow Submarine. He might do well at Barcelona if given the chance. But it is unlikely because the board expects full and unquestioned obedience from the manager, which Marcelino has proven he is unwilling to do.
