The ex-Barcelona man has had a high-profile managerial career, similar to his playing career. He got his first job at Köln and went on to manager Shakhtar Donetsk, Real Madrid and Besiktas. He has been available since May, 2014 when his contract was terminated by Malaga.

More from Everything Barca

Schuster has shown himself more than capable of managing in the La Liga. He took an unimpressive Getafe side to the Copa del Rey final in 2006. He won Head Coach of the Year as a result. Schuster also led Real Madrid to a win in the 2007-08 La Liga.

But his latest spell in La Liga was a disaster. He managed 40 games for Malaga, of which they were able to win just 12. Schuster has taken a sabbatical since and has not yet returned to managing.

For a manager of his qualities, it will be hard to get him on board. Mostly because he doesn’t need to coach a team now. He can take on directorial jobs.

But as a former player, Schuster understands the value of the youth academy at Barcelona. He promoted 6 youth players from Castilla to the first-team when he was in charge of Real Madrid. He would be a good option but nonetheless, he has been inactive for 3 years.
