FC Barcelona transfer rumour update – Hector Bellerin and Marco Verratti
Marco Verratti’s agent Di Campli rules out transfer to Barcelona
When a player is earmarked by Xavi to be his successor, he is under a lot of pressure. But Marco Verratti has coped with this pressure very well, leading him to be the star player of Paris-Saint Germain.
Barcelona used Xavi as a rumour spreader in a clever way. He continually promoted Marco Verratti as his successor at Barcelona, leading to the press labeling him so. But the attempt to unsettle Verratti has failed.

"Verratti’s agent Di Campli spoke to the media regarding his client’s situation in Paris. He said, “Marco Verratti will remain at PSG. Marco is happy in Paris, he has a contract until 2021 and he will definitely stay there.”“The will of PSG also has to be respected, it’s a club which loves him. We’ll meet the directors, but only to understand the project because the club remains ambitious and wants to win the Champions League.”La Campli also dismissed potential offers from Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Juventus. He said, “An offer from Bayern Munich? There might be, but anyone who wants him needs to talk to PSG, not us.”“Juventus or Inter? They’re not starting on the first or second row of the grid, because there’s no chance of seeing him in Italy.”"
This statement just before the end of the season and the beginning of the transfer action period is clearly indicative of one thing – that Marco Verratti will remain a Paris-Saint Germain player in the near future.
This is a major setback for Robert Fernandez, who was planning a midfield overhaul this summer. Marco Verratti was one of his main targets. His team had met Paris-Saint Germain officials in the Champions League game at the Camp Nou, but obviously they couldn’t work out a deal.
This means that he will have to look into alternatives for the playmaker position, with Mesut Ozil coming into the picture, with just a year left on his contract at Arsenal.
Barcelona may take advantage of the benching of Hector Bellerin by Arsene Wenger
Bellerin, time and again, has declared his love for Arsenal and their longtime coach Arsene Wenger. But after Wenger benched him in favour of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and his future at the Emirates in doubt, does Bellerin have the same relationship with Wenger?
