8. Samuel Eto’o

Eto’o signed for Barcelona in 2004 for €27 million. He was turning out to be quite a sensation in the La Liga, having scored 48 goals in 4 seasons for Mallorca. Barcelona did not miss this opportunity and the signed him up upon manager Frank Rijkaard’s request.

But no one that imagined what he would do at the Camp Nou. Eto’o set the ground running at Barcelona. His style of play fit Rijkaard’s tactics and the end result was a lethal force up top. Eto’o scored 108 goals in 145 appearances. But sadly, his time at Barca was cut short by Pep Guardiola’s desire to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
