The three biggest failures of last season should have left the Camp Nou this season. They had suitors, too but Barcelona could not negotiate a deal for them.

In the case of André Gomes, no club could match Barca’s asking price of €50 million. Although Tottenham make a last-ditch effort to sign him on deadline day, the club vetoed the deal.

As for Arda Turan, it is pure incompetency on part of the club. Barcelona officials did not even sit down with suitors of Turan to discuss a deal despite telling him that he had no future at the Camp Nou.

But Barcelona performed worst in negotiating a deal for Rafinha. The disgruntled midfielder was looking for a way out of the Camp Nou but Barcelona demanded €30 million for him. Although that price tag is not unreasonable for a player like Rafinha, Barcelona should have let him go for a lesser fee, especially because he is hampered with injuries.
