2. Barcelona did not call up a player from the B team for the third season in a row

The last time the club called up a player from the B team was in the 2014-15 season when Luis Enrique took over. Sandro Ramírez and Munir el Haddadi didn’t exactly enjoy the best of seasons then and since, the club has sacrificed La Masia for big-name signings.

Although players like Carles Aleñá and Sergi Palencia shone last season, none of them were called up this season. This is despite of the fact that the squad needed reinforcements in the very two positions they occupy, midfield and right-back.

In the last 15 years, Barcelona have piled up trophies in their cabinet with La Masia products. But as time passes, Barcelona is becoming like Real Madrid, trying to buy success. Joan Laporta realised that it was impossible, and Bartomeu would do better to realise it too.
