1. Paris Saint-Germain signed Neymar by activating his €222 million release clause, while the club watched

But Barcelona could not prevent his transfer. The club had their hands fettered as officials have made the mistake of inserting a release clause into his contract when he penned a new deal last season.

Although there are doubts as to whether the transfer was legal, PSG signed him anyway and he will soon be winning the Ballon d’Or. This is the greatest failure of the board this summer. The club failed to convince Neymar to believe in its sporting project and he was looking for new pastures as early as May.

Although the club has brought in a replacement in the form of Ousmane  Dembélé, he is unlikely to be an immediate replacement. Dembélé has a long way to go before he can be considered as equivalent to Neymar.
