3. Barcelona 6-1 Paris Saint-Germain (2016-17 Champions League)

Barcelona’s league form was starting to dip when the team lost 4-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16 in the Champions League last season. PSG took the lead in the 18th minute through a Ángel di María free-kick. The, the Parisian club extended their lead through a goal leading from a mistake made by Lionel Messi in the 40th minute.

The second half was even worse for Barcelona. Di María scored yet again as PSG’s lead became unassailable. But they did not stop there. Edinson Cavani rubbed salt in Barca’s wounds with a clinical finish after a through ball from Thomas Meunier.

But Barcelona showed them how good they can be in the second leg at the Camp Nou. Barcelona began the game by pressurizing PSG, and it ended in a goal for Luis Suárez in the 2nd minute. Barcelona shortened the deficit through a Andrés Iniesta goal in the 40th minute.

But the second half was a masterclass in football. Barcelona achieved a 3-0 lead through a Leo Messi penalty right after half-time. But PSG scored to create an atmosphere of uncertainty at the Camp Nou. But in the 87th minute, Neymar curled in a beautiful free-kick to give the fans hope.

What followed is pure history. In the dying minutes of the game, Neymar scored a penalty after Marquinhos had brought down Luis Suárez. It was all set for extra time as the referee awarded 5 minutes of extra time.

In the last minute of extra time, Barcelona won a free-kick from a good position. Neymar whipped in a beautiful cross and Sergi Roberto’s outstretched leg was there to meet it at the back post. The Camp Nou erupted in celebration as Barcelona pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in the history of football.
