Robert Fernández has done excellent work as technical director at Barcelona. He has had a huge role in signing the likes of Ousmane Dembélé, Philippe Coutinho and Samuel Umtiti. The board is very happy with his performance, especially because of his partnership with Ernesto Valverde.

But Josep Maria Bartomeu has not entered negotiations with the ex-Culé, and his contract is up before the beginning of the summer transfer window. This will be an active window for Barça, so the club needs to wrap up the signing of his replacement.

Preferably, the club should retain Robert when it should also formulate a contingency plan. There are some replacements in the market who are highly reputed, and can replace him adequately.
