4. Arturo Vidal showed why he deserves more minutes

In recent times, Arturo Vidal has gone public with his unhappiness about his lack of playing time. Against Real Valladolid, the 31-year old Chilean box-to-box midfielder was awarded an opportunity due to the absence of the fatigued Arthur.

And boy did he take advantage of that opportunity. In a classy display, Vidal scored his third goal of the league season with a finish worthy of a world-class centre-forward. From a delightful lofted ball from Messi, he poked it home with an outstretched leg.

Vidal was also defensively solid, making 6 tackles over the course of the 90 minutes. He also showed his aerial prowess, and had a pretty good passing accuracy of 86%, given his role. His ability to make runs into the box was also on display.

Vidal also showed great understanding with Leo Messi and Nélson Semedo, linking up with the two players down the right flank with good, incisive passing play. His goal simply capped a brilliant overall performance.
