Barcelona are keen on signing Willian on a pre-contract move with his current contract with Chelsea expires in the summer.

Marca reports that the London side have attempted to renew the winger’s contract but the Brazilian international fancies a change. With his current contract expiring in six months, on June 30, Barcelona are keen on bringing the forward to the Nou Camp.

This rumor by Marca’s José Félix Díaz is not the most outrageous claim that we have heard in the last few weeks and could potentially become a reality depending on how newly appointed manager Quique Setien resolves the current issue revolving the aging and injured Luis Suarez.

Barca have been longtime admirers of the Brazilian with their previous bid of £55 million in the summer of 2018,  rejected by Chelsea. They had also attempted to include Malcom Oliveira in the deal during the January 2019 transfer market.

Sky Sports reported that Blaugrana had prepared a late £20 million bid for Willian, which was rejected due to Frank Lampard’s concern of a shortage of players in his current Chelsea squad.

The Catalan giants are now focused on securing the departing player in the summer transfer window, after the Premier League side refused any sale for Willian in January despite knowing his contract expiration will result in a lost opportunity of making any monetary profit for the Brazilian.

Willian, who shares the same agency as Philippe Coutinho, Sport Invest, is open to offers coming outside of the United Kingdom and the 31-year-old could potentially be a short-term solution to the struggling Barca attack.

ESPN via Metro have reported that the Brazilian has confirmed having no agreement with the Spanish club and that he is keen on signing a new deal with Chelsea as he wants to keep his family in London. He has rejected a two-year contract extension offer as he wants to sign a 3 years contract instead.
