Barcelona are paying close to attention to the winger’s contract situation at Valencia.

Barcelona’s squad needs an upheaval and it appears that those in charge are coming to a similar conclusion. Various reports have linked the club with several marquee names.

Valencia’s Ferran Torres is the latest name added to the list.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have set their sights on the 20-year-old winger.

Torres is a player the club have gone after in the past and believe they could entice him with a move away.

His contract with Valencia is set to expire in 2021 and has reportedly rejected two different contract proposals from the club.

His release clause is listed at €100 million but the Catalans believe that Valencia will accept €35 million if they don’t want to risk losing him on a free once his deal ends.

Given his situation, other clubs like Real Madrid, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund are also said to be interested.

Playing on the right-wing, Barcelona believe that he would make an excellent addition as he’s become an important player for Valencia at the age of 20.

But Valencia are not going to step aside so easily. Los Che have made Torres’ renovation a top priority and want to convince him to sign an extension with the club.

He joins the likes of Neymar, Lautaro Martinez and Timo Werner as a few of the names linked with Barcelona. They’ve already signed Francisco Trincao from S.C. Braga who plays in a similar position as Torres.

The club’s transfer policy has left much to be desired the last couple of years. On paper, Torres seems like a smart potential signing. However, it also adds evidence to the credence that the club value the young players of other teams more than their own.
