Barcelona could be close to landing their first big target for next season.

Despite LaLiga being postponed, Barcelona are working behind-the-scenes to improve the squad for next season.

According to Mundo Deportivo, reports out of Italy claim that the Catalan giants have reached an agreement on personal terms with Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

The reports claim that should he sign with the Blaugrana, the Argentine striker will earn €18 million a season which is close to what Antoine Griezmann is earning.

The deal is expected to be valued somewhere around €150 million with Barça including players in the transaction.

Earlier rumors speculated that Inter wanted the likes of Jean-Clair Todibo, Carles Aleña and Arthur Melo in any proposed deal.

Barcelona initially wanted to include Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic or Nelson Semedo.

SempreInter report that Inter are already looking at the likes of RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, Manchester United’s Anthony Martial and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as possible replacements.

Martinez would represent another heavy investment and the club wanting to include players make sense in an attempt to pay as little as possible. But offers like this are complicated with both sides having different valuations for a player.

The addition of Martinez would mean that the club finally found someone who could replace Luis Suarez as well as be a signing for the long-term. It’s a step in the right direction.

At the same time, reaching a deal with a player is the easy part. The hard part, and one that is likely to take a while, is coming to an agreement with Inter Milan.
