Ousmane Dembele will remain at the Nou Camp despite the recent revelation of Barcelona’s intentions of signing the likes of Neymar and Lautaro Martinez.

Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, has a major summer transfer plan which includes bringing in the likes of former superstar, Neymar Jr., and Inter’s Lautaro Martinez. This has raised some concerns as the club lacks the funds to make such massive signings, especially without the sales of their existing players.

More from Everything Barca

Ivan Rakitic and Philippe Coutinho have been the favorites to leave the club in the summer with others to follow. Dembele’s future at the club remains uncertain for the same reason, but Sport reports that the club will not be putting their injured Frenchman on the market.

The winger is currently recovering from another injury, added to the long list of injuries the 22-year-old has sustained throughout his Camp Nou days, with the recent incident forcing the youngster to be out of action for six months after he underwent surgery in Finland last February. This incident, however, has frustrated the Barca hierarchy as they feel the World Cup winner has fallen short and mot met any of the expectations surrounding his €125 million arrival at the club.

However, Eric Abidal, technical secretariat, and the manager Quique Setien, consider Ousmane to be a valuable asset who has yet to offer much more. They believe in his talent and are prepared to remain patient with the player’s progress.

Preventing the reoccurring injuries has become the club’s main focus with the medical staff, along with the help of Aspectar Clinic (Qatar), providing a detailed report about the reasoning for the relapses. There are reportedly two reasons, firstly Dembele had not completed his development when he arrived at the club which means his muscles and bones are still growing.

Secondly, Ousmane’s morphological characteristics will require his training to be altered in order to support his growth and with explosiveness being one of his major traits, his training will have to follow the same intensity.

Should Barca keep their faith in Dembele or has the player used up his opportunities?
