Barcelona are not the only ones after the PSG player with Sevilla’s Monchi proving to be a thorn in their side.

Barcelona have been rumored with a move for PSG left-back Layvin Kurzawa. The Frenchman is just the latest to be linked with a move to the Catalan side.

One of the reasons why Kurzawa appears to be high on their list is because he would come on a free transfer. Which is good for the club because their relationship with PSG is frosty at best and unlikely to get any better given the Neymar rumors.

However, that he may make a move on a free transfer is appealing not just the Blaugrana.

According to Diario Sport, Sevilla are also said to be interested in Kurzawa with sporting director Monchi becoming a significant obstacle for Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Monchi has been negotiating with the player’s agent for a while now his ability to close and get a good deal is well-documented.

But Barcelona have a good relationship with Kurzawa’s agent, Kia Joorabchian.

Why does it matter?

Because he also represents Coutinho. A player that the club is desperately trying to move.

Chelsea is said to already be negotiation with Coutinho’s agent and Barcelona may use that to their advantage. They would be more likely to agree to sell him to Chelsea if they could somehow convince him to steer Kurzawa in their direction.

It’s no secret that the squad is need of a revamp and full-back is one of those position. Jordi Alba is only getting older and Junior Firpo has flattered to deceive.

Trying to find value and perhaps focusing on players whose contracts are about to expire may be the way to go for next season. Barcelona find themselves short on cash given the amount of money they spend on wages and made worse with the effects of the pandemic.

Next. Barca should opt to sign Portuguese defender to solidify their backline. dark

Kurzawa has had his ups-and-downs at PSG but they definitely think he’s worth the risk and won’t hurt them too much financially if they have to move on after a season or two.
