The 17-year-old starlet has featured for the Catalan side on many occasions owing to injuries sustained by Ousmane Dembele and Luis Suarez this season. The Spanish international has performed beyond expectations with the board viewing him as a future star.
After managing 5 goals in 24 matches across all competitions, the youngster has undoubtedly secured a bright future for himself. Spanish outlet OkDiario, however, claims that the talented prospect may not feature for the Spanish giants next season as the ongoing transfer rumors surrounding Neymar and Lautaro Martinez may restrict his chances.
The Barca board are looking into loan opportunities for the winger with several European giants lining up for the immensely talented footballer. Multiple Spanish sides, two Premier League clubs, Two Bundesliga sides, and three Italian clubs are reportedly enquiring about Fati’s availability with Borussia Dortmund leading the pack.
The Spaniard’s current contract with Barca runs until 2022 with the club having the option of extending his stay for two further seasons. The 17-year-old’s popularity is due to his attractive pace and ability to run behind defenders. His unique versatility when it comes to position also attracts many clubs as despite being a natural left winger, Fati is able to perform equally well on the right flank and as center-forward.
With Neymar and Lautaro linked with a move along with Dembele, Antoine Griezmann, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi‘s presence in the first-team, Ansu’s opportunities for the upcoming season look slim.
Fati has a release clause of 170 million euros with reports claiming a contract renewal in a few months will increase this sum to 400 million. Dortmund are unlikely to spend such a staggering amount on a 17-year-old and with Barca unwilling to negotiate a lowered price, it is safe to presume the deal is improbable.
Do you think Dortmund will be willing to pay so much for Ansu Fati?
