Ousmane Dembele makes a return to the spotlight ahead of the first training sessions in Barcelona since the shutdown, surprisingly or unsurprisingly, for the worse.

The French international has been struggling ever since his arrival in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund after a staggering 125 million euro deal.

More from Everything Barca

The 22-year-old has been recovering from a series of injuries that have been following him throughout his Barca career, with the latest one forcing the World Cup winner out of action for more than six months, which led to the eventual signing of Martin Braithwaite.

Recently, despite the Barca board ruling Dembele as a disappointment, Technical Secretariat Eric Abidal and boss Quique Setien insisted that the winger has the potential to be a valuable asset for the upcoming season. Setien wants to remain patient with the Frenchman’s recovery and insists on using him in the future.

Spanish outlet El Desmarque reports that the Barca coach remained optimistic about Dembele’s future but the player’s ill behavior has troubled the club on a number of occasions. After his latest injury, Ousmane seems to have used up all his chances and goodwill with the current board and is the favorite to be sold especially due to lack of maturity when it comes to his recovery.

After showing slight improvement to his behavior, reports were circulated hinting that the Frenchman might be given another chance at glory but the latest report by El Confidencial claims that the 22-year-old has made his final mistake.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger missed the telematic talk organized by coach Setien on April 14 while sitting at home in France because he simply forgot about the event and failed to show up.

It remains to be seen if Dembele’s continued bad attitude would affect the Barca hierarchy for the worse but for now, the player will have to remain focused on his recovery and training. Setien seems to have put his faith on the youngster but the latest transfer rumors surrounding the return of Neymar might significantly hurt Dembele’s chances of making a comeback in a Blaugrana shirt.
