The latest injury of Ousmane Dembele had triggered a chaotic situation at the club with Barca forced to make an immediate signing that saw Martin Braithwaite‘s arrival to Camp Nou. Following the Frenchman’s recurring injury, the Catalan giants suffered an even bigger blow after losing star striker Luis Suarez to a knee injury mid-season.

The Uruguayan has since recovered successfully while young Dembele is expected to make a return in August. Due to the shortage in the number of players along with a really tight schedule, coach Quique Setien has called upon six ‘B’ squad youngsters to save the day.

FIFA are allowing five changes to the existing squad along with an option to extend it to six if the schedule extends. RFEF have given permission to have 23 footballers in a squad and given the injury crisis at Barca, the La Masia stars will have an important role to play in the remaining 11 games.

Blaugrana’s B team are preparing for their own play-offs in Segunda Division Promotional series but the six named players will not partake in this decisive challenge. Riqui Puig, Ronaldo Araujo, Inaki Pena, Alex Collado, Monchu and Ansu Fati will have to rise to the occasion for first-team football when their training resumes around May 25th.

Meanwhile, Konrad de la Fuente, Nils Mortimer, Peque, Mika Marmol, Nico Gonzalez, Jaume Jardi, Alvaro Sanz and  Ilaix Moriba are the eight youth stars that will join the B squad after the departure of Setien’s chosen six.

The six future prospects of the club will have a crucial La Liga experience as Setien will be deciding their future once the tournament concludes. This extensive examination will also give them their most awaited opportunity to play alongside the superstars at Barca.
