This has opened up the talk regarding the 49-year-old’s future, with Barca named the clear favorites. The Catalan giants are due for a Presidential election with the former president and candidate, Joan Laporta, showing desires to reunite with his former coach.

The pair together witnessed Blaugrana’s most successful years with the club winning La Liga, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Spanish Super Cup, and UEFA Champions League.

Former Manchester City winger, Trevor Sinclair, interviewed with talkSport to discuss Guardiola’s future in the Premier League. The footballer stated that there is a good chance that the two parties reunite once again.

"“Joan Laporta went in there at Barca when Pep was a youth coach and he made Pep in-charge of the first-team, and 14 trophies in four years later… what an amazing partnership. You don’t have that kind of partnership with a person at a club you love… Pep is Catalan through and through.”Source Goal"

Sinclair spoke about the reality that Guardiola is a Catalan and currently away from home. Laporta’s return as President will surely reignite Pep’s interest in coaching Lionel Messi once again.

"“If you go away, I think your heart will always try and bring you back home and I think if there is one person that can get Pep Guardiola back to Barcelona, it’s Joan Laporta.”"

Manchester City’s Champions League ban is another factor that may push the Spanish coach away from Etihad as his biggest desire is to win the UEFA trophy with City.

Guardiola also recently lost his mother to COVID-19 which might trigger the sense of missing home.

"On a human level we know Pep has just lost him mum to coronavirus, and I feel that Barca is pulling him home and there’s a good chance he could end up back at Barca.”"

Quique Setien is currently coaching the Catalan giants and has an important job ahead of the commence of the current La Liga campaign. Pep’s return will surely be welcomed by the millions of Blaugrana fans despite Setien’s positive contribution to the squad ever since Ernesto Valverde’s departure.
