Barcelona full-back, Nelson Semedo, recollects his time at Benfica which has triggered his desire to make a return amid Juventus’ interest.
Barcelona have decided to use Nelson Semedo’s sale to fund their major transfer targets such as Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez or Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar. The Portuguese international is among the many at Camp Nou who are linked with a move away to help aid the financial situation at the club.

Semedo joined from Benfica in 2017 as Barca were desperate to find a replacement for Dani Alves. Despite the 26-year-old’s glimpses of success, the defender shared his minutes alongside Sergi Roberto on regular bases. The Catalan giants wanted to renew his contract but Semedo wanted a higher wage than what the club are willing to spend resulting in their mutual dispute.
The Portuguese has now recalled his successful days with his former side and wants to make a return in the future.
"“I would like to return at a time when I can give everything and help the team, not just to get money like some people do. It was indescribable. Being champion for the club of our heart is a great satisfaction, it is a dream come true, it was spectacular,” Semedo said.Source"
Semedo, for now, is likely to be sold this summer transfer window after failing to reach an agreement to extend his stay at Barca beyond 2022. Juventus are currently negotiating with the Catalan side for a potential swap involving Miralem Pjanic. The Italian side are now ready to include Mattia De Sciglio in the operation if Barca agrees to add Semedo on their end.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Inter Milan are also interested in the Portuguese and might reduce their asking price for Lautaro if the right-back is included but the player himself fancies Juventus over Inter. On top of this, Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City have immerged as Semedo’s favorite destination with the Premier League side looking to swap him for Joao Cancelo.
It remains to be seen which club offers the best deal for Nelson Semedo.
