Barcelona are ready to compete with EFL Championship clubs in order to sign Premier League’s most promising Argentine prospect, Juan Foyth.

There is an enormous amount of summer transfer talks being circulated regarding Barcelona with multiple clubs and footballers linked with a move to the Nou Camp.

More from Everything Barca

It is not just the players moving in but also the number of footballers leaving the Catalan giants this summer with club president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, hinting at the possible sales of half the current squad.

Even before the economic crisis caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Barca had shown their desire to make major changes to the roster quoting the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Neymar joining the club this summer.

There is no doubt that the coronavirus situation has caused a lot of financial stress to the side with the club now re-evaluating their transfer approach. Multiple major signings are reportedly being shut down to make room for multiple cheaper alternatives that would ensure that the squad gets reinforcements in all the needed areas and not just one massive name for one position.

Blaugrana’s latest target is a surprising one as they are reportedly preparing to go to battle with EFL Championship sides to chase down Tottenham Hotspur’s Argentinian international, Juan Foyth.

Foyth joined Spurs in 2017 after Mauricio Pochettino requested the club to sign a fellow countryman as Foyth at the time was regarded by many as the most promising Argentinian since Lionel Messi. The 22-year-old, however, could not live up to the massive excitement surrounding him and has been reportedly thrown off by Tottenham’s new manager, Jose Mourinho.

The defender is not desired by the Portuguese coach and has been placed on the transfer market for any possible suitors. Reports claim that Leeds United are looking to sign the youngster having already been interested in the past. The player’s agent has also admitted that his client has requested Spur’s to allow talks with a different club.

Mundo Deportivo reports that the Argentine could be the perfect alternative to the departing full-back Nelson Semedo, as the Portuguese international has been linked with a move to Inter Milan or Manchester City this summer.
