Lionel Messi predicts Premier League youngster to become one of the best.

It is very rare to hear Barcelona’s Lionel Messi talk about another player but he has recently tipped a Chelsea youngster as one with the greatest potential.

More from Everything Barca

Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount, has received praise from one of the greatest footballers to ever grace the sport. The midfielder has 41 appearances to his name at Chelsea with another 6 for England in his breakthrough season.

People know Leo as the quiet type that never really speaks about another player but has praised the midfielder by saying,

"“Having watched him play he has the potential to be one of the best.”Source Mirror"

The Barcelona captain isn’t the only one that regards Mount highly with Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard, commenting on the 21-year-old’s impact in his first season.

"“He’s done a lot, Coming back here, obviously I worked with him last year, and I’m really happy with how he’s trained and his status within the group.” Lampard told."

The Blues coach and former player has been impressed with not only his quality but also his worth ethic.

"“The players recognize quality instantly, but they also recognize work rate and character. Mason’s got all of those” He continued."

There seems to be a dilemma at Chelsea due to his great performance this season as multiple other youngsters are also looking for their shot at glory under Lampard.

"“He’s [Mount] given me a problem. Ross Barkley’s also had a good pre-season and Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be back later on. It’s good because they’re all adaptable and can play in a variety of positions amongst themselves.” Lampard said."

Chelsea and Barca have been involved in the transfer market with the Premier League side looking to sign Neto to add reinforcements to their goalkeeper role. Lampard’s falling out with Kepa Arrizabalaga and the backup goalie, Willy Caballero, nearing retirement at 38 years of age, Chelsea look to Barca for solutions.

Chelsea are also in the market for a new striker with a recent report claiming their intentions of stealing Lautaro Martinez this summer.

Perhaps Mount’s former teammate, Mitchell van Bergen’s comment will come true after the 20-year-old predicted that Mount will join either Barca or Real Madrid in the future.

"“Mason is going to reach the absolute top. In the Premier League, he will be a complete player and I see him eventually ending up at Barcelona or Real Madrid.” Mitchell told NOSSource Goal"
