Paris Saint-Germain plan to hijack Barcelona transfer target, Sergino Dest.

Barcelona have identified Ajax right-back, Sergino Dest, as the successor to Nelson Semedo but face competition from Paris Saint-Germain.

More from Everything Barca

The Ajax full-back has attracted multiple European giants after his impressive performance with the Dutch side. Barca have confirmed that he is one of the players leading the race to secure the struggling right-back position at Camp Nou.

Nelson Semedo is liked with a move to clubs like Juventus, Inter Milan, Manchester City, and many others. If the Portuguese international does leave this summer, it leaves the Catalan giants with only Sergi Roberto as a replacement.

Dest, for that reason, has been picked by the Barca hierarchy to solve this emergency situation. The Spanish side, however, are facing competition from PSG who are also keen on securing a replacement for Thomas Meunier.

The Parisien’s Sporting Director, Leonardo, does not view Meunier as the ideal right-back for the future of the club and wants to sign a young alternative. Sport via France Football reports that the French club value Dest around 20 million euros, an amount that is extremely attractive in the current market that has been deeply affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

PSG have already begun business despite the pandemic.

PSG have already secured Mario Icardi for next season after paying 60 million euros to Inter Milan and Dest would be the perfect cheaper alternative to other available right-backs in the market. Bayern Munich were also interested in the defender with many believing them to be leading the race before COVID-19 shifted their priorities.

Don Balon had reported that Barca are ready to pay 30 million euros to the Dutch side to acquire Sergino but Liverpool have also joined the race. Trent Alexander-Arnold is already a fantastic right-back but Jorgen Klopp is looking to add depth to his squad after losing to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League this season.

Dest was recently seen wearing the Blaugrana training kit on his social media post hinting towards his potential move to Camp Nou this summer.

Can Sergino Dest resolve Barca’s right-back issues?
