Xavi told to return as Barcelona manager before Lionel Messi retires.

Barcelona legend, Samuel Eto’o, suggests former teammate, Xavi, to return to Camp Nou before Lionel Messi retires in a few seasons.

More from Everything Barca

The return of a former player is always a special moment especially at Camp Nou because of the latest success achieved by former players turned managers like Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique. Xavi Hernandez is the latest Blaugrana player to turn to a managerial role and million of clues await his return to implement the Barca philosophy in the current squad that at times have definitely failed to play by it.

Former Barca striker, Eto’o has directed Xavi to make a return to Camp Nou as the coach before their six-time Ballon d’Or recipient, Lionel Messi, decides to hang his boots or move elsewhere. Xavi’s 17 years at Barca has earned him the status of one of the best midfielders to ever wear the shirt making well over 700 appearances since his arrival in 1991.

Now retired, the World Cup winner has started on his managerial career with Qatar side, Al Sadd, with many predicted him to make a quick transition to Spain. Xavi rejected to join this season after the termination of former coach, Ernesto Valverde, as the Spaniard felt the decision was too soon.

Eto’o, however, feels that Xavi should not wait around for too long as he would miss the opportunity to coach his former teammate and the best footballer in the world, Lionel Messi.

"“I’ve told Xavi that whatever happens, he has to go back to Barca – and I told him that he has to do it while the God of Football is still there, He played with him, and that will make it easier for him than for another.” Eto’o told Catalunya Radio.Source Goal"

Fans around the world will agree with Samuel as Xavi could truly reform the current Barca squad into possession-based giants that can take over the world of football winning everything in their path as they did under former coach, Guardiola and Enrique, who followed a similar playstyle.
