Barcelona attempt to lure Manchester City star away from Etihad Stadium.

Barcelona have trying to tempt Manchester City winger Bernardo Silva by offering him a key role for next season.

More from Everything Barca

The Catalan giants are known to be in the market for attacking reinforcements after finding it difficult to break the opposition’s defensive line with the current lineup throughout the season. While Luis Suarez, at 33 years of age, looks a shadow of his former self, Barca’s latest signings have not worked out for them either.

Antoine Griezmann has struggled to find his footing ever since his arrival from Atletico Madrid last year, while fellow French international, Ousmane Dembele, has had an unfortunate spell at Camp Nou which has been showered by multiple reoccurring injuries.

The only other attacker besides Lionel Messi to have any significant attacking contribution is 17-year-old La Masia graduate, Ansu Fati, who has been slowly introduced to the first-team as the club are taking as little risk as possible in order to not repeat the mistakes they made with Dembele, which was playing him too much too soon.

While both Neymar and Lautaro Martinez have been linked with a move, any expensive transfer happening in this transfer window seems unlikely given the economic crisis at the Nou Camp. While Neymar’s move completely depends on whether Paris Saint-Germain accepts any players in return, Lautaro’s transfer talks have been halted until the end of the Champions League tournament in Portugal.

While Lautaro has accepted the move to Spain, Inter Milan are reluctant to let their star striker leave with Barca finding it difficult to pay the demanded transfer fee. Lautaro has stated that he is prepared to wait until 2021 to move to Barca after the club can afford to fulfill Inter’s wishes.

Meanwhile, Barca have started scouting other attacking reinforcements with Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva being the latest target. The Telegraph reports that the Catalan side are keen on signing the Portuguese international and are ready to offer cash plus player for his transfer.

While it was reported earlier that the Spanish side are looking to swap Nelson Semedo with Joao Cancelo in the hopes of securing Eric Garcia, the plans have shifted ever since Garcia rejected City’s contract renewal offer. The Barca hierarchy are still ready to trade Semedo but this time for Bernardo Silva instead.

They are aware that City will never accept a direct trade between Silva and Semedo and thus are also ready to offer cash along with the star full-back in order to convince Pep Guardiola into selling his benched winger.

Should Barca sign Bernardo Silva?
