After the humiliating 8-2 defeat in the quarter-finals of the Champions League to Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich, Pique admitted that the club needs to hit rock-bottom by replacing players in every necessary position including himself.
Barca’s newly appointed coach, Ronald Koeman, is ready to make the necessary changes including the sale of veterans like Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Pique. While Eric Garcia remains a defensive target, available center-backs Ronald Araujo and Jean-Clair Todibbo could also be featured under the Dutch coach.
Dailymail, via Peruvian site Libero, reports that Fulham are keen on securing Pique this transfer window. The London side wants to give the Spaniard a chance to move to the English capital, rejoining the Premier League once again. Pique had a successful spell with Manchester United until his return to Camp Nou in 2008.
Barca president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, claimed that the club are not suffering financially but needs to sell multiple stars to get rid of the many expensive salaries been paid by the club. Pique is currently on 220 million pounds per week, and the club are prepared to sell him to the highest bidder.
The report claims that Fulham have sent an official offer to the Catalans which could potentially help the 33-year-old receive a sizeable salary and play in a competitive league before officially hanging his boots.
