Andrea Pirlo is keen on securing departing Barcelona midfielder.

Barcelona midfielder, Arturo Vidal, could be on his way to Juventus after newly appointed Andrea Pirlo personally contacted him in order to initiate a transfer.

More from Everything Barca

Mundo Deportivo reports the Chilean international has also spoken to newly appointed Barca coach, Ronald Koeman. While the discussion held between the two remains unknown, the report does reveal what happened on the other call involving Pirlo.

The Italian coach has recently taken over his first managerial role with the Italian champions. While a minor rebuilding has been reported, it remains to be seen which players will be moving to Turin ahead of the next season. Vidal has been identified as a potential midfield reinforcement despite being 33 years of age.

Pirlo contacted Vidal to ask him about his intentions for his future. Many believe that the former Bayern Munich star will be departing the Nou Camp as part of the massive squad overhaul being planned by both Koeman and sporting director, Ramon Planes.

The Juve legend believes Arturo could be of great value for their project and has also been supported by another club legend, Gigi Buffon, who is a great friend of Arturo. While the response from Vidal remains untold, it is believed that the midfielder desires to win the Champions League once before he retires.

Vidal will closely evaluate his options as Paris Saint-Germain’s interest could potentially convince him to move to France instead. Manchester United have also been lurking around but the French champions have a better chance at the European glory considering they have already managed to reach the finals.

The Chilean has one year remaining in his contract but has been placed on the transfer list by the board as they look to get rid of his expensive wages along with getting a reasonable transfer fee to help the club’s struggling finances.
