Reports suggest that the Catalan side could reach an agreement with the Argentine maestro similar to the way their rivals, Real Madrid, did when parting ways with Cristiano.
Messi has voiced his concern regarding the future of Barca, especially under current president, Josep Maria Bartomeu. The newly appointed coach, Ronald Koeman, recently spoke with the captain to discuss his plans for the future.
It was leaked that Messi is unsatisfied with the project and its scope especially if Bartomeu remains incharge and while this could simply be a power play forcing a resignation from the chief, Leo’s exit is now a real possibility.
Multiple European elites are interested in securing the insettled superstar after he revealed he is more ‘out than in’. Inter Milan, Manchester City and many more are keen on rescuing the six-time Ballon d’Or winner but face a major complication regarding his release clause.
Messi’s exit will cost any club 636 million pounds which is simply not affordable by anyone, and while this makes any exit talks impossible, Sport suggests that the club could use what Real did with Ronaldo.
The now Juventus star left Los Blancos despite having a release clause of 900 million pounds, and this was achieved because president Florentino Perez agreed to reduce the fee substantially. Barca could now do the same with Messi, if they agree to sell him for a fee close to 180 million pounds.
While there is no doubt that City and Inter could afford the amount, It remains to be seen whether they would want to considering his age. It is also likely that Barca could potentially approve a free transfer if Messi really desires an exit considering everything he has done for the club till date.
