Barca sporting director, Ramon Planes, reveals that the club are looking to convince their captain to stay for another season and expect him to come to training sessions.
Messi, however, is adamant about wanting to leave the Nou Camp this transfer window, inisting the Spanish side to activate the clause allowing him to terminate to join another club of his picking for free.
While the activation period expired in June, Leo remains convinced that the clause should have been extended along with the season due to the nature of this campaign taking into account the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
While Planes remains optimistic, presidential election hopeful, Victor Font, believes that the Argentine will stay if the current president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, resigns.
It is no surprise that the Argentine does not trust the current project especially because of Barotmeu, and while his resignation would bring a drastic change, it is not a guaranteed factor which would make the captain stay.
Forbes reports that according to Onda Cero’s Alfredo Martinez along with Diario Sport, nothing will change the 33-year-old’s mind regarding the matter. It remains to be seen if Bartomeu leaves to ensure Messi’s continuation at Camp Nou but the player is still keen on making a move elsewhere with both Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Inter MIlan being named the most likely destinations.
Should Bartomeu resign to keep Messi at Barca?
