Bayern Munich near the signing of Barcelona target
Barcelona defensive reinforcement to sign a contract with Bayern Munich.
Hansi Flick’s European Champions have reportedly closed a deal and agreed on personal terms with Ajax’s Sergino Dest. The American youngster is also heavily linked to Barcelona as Ronald Koeman has been trying to bring in the youngster on loan and pay his fee the upcoming year.

The Catalans reportedly will not be able to pay the young right back’s transfer fee this window given that their president Josep Maria Bartomeu has clearly stated that the Blaugrana will only follow a sell and buy transfer policy for this window. Hence, Dest’s transfer fee will only be available if Nelson Semedo is sold off, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.
As for Bayern Munich, they have reached personal terms with the young American, according to Diario Sport. With Joshua Kimmich as an upgraded midfielder and Benjamin Pavard reportedly on his way out, the full-back can take over the role as the main right-back at the Allianz Arena. This will be a huge achievement for the youngster with the Bundesliga champions being favorites for this year’s Champions League after just securing the Treble a month ago.
Barca are monitoring the youngster’s situation very closely. With no guarantee of a transfer fee, the Catalans are hoping to land the youngster given their good relationship with the Dutch club. Koeman too will have a huge part to play in this given his pull towards the youngster. The Dutch manager wanted the Ajax star to be a part of the Netherlands National team but the 19-year-old chose to play for the United States of America as his parents lived there.
La Liga giants or Bundesliga giants, a move to any of these two clubs will be a fantastic achievement for the youngster but the Spanish side are desperately in a need of defensive reinforcements after losing 8-2 to the German side. Meanwhile, if Bayern secures Dest, they can enjoy the luxury of having some of the best full-backs in the world with Alphonso Davies on the left-flank.
