Barcelona might come to regret letting Luis Suarez leave for Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona may have just handed Atletico Madrid a gold mine for goals. 33-year-old Luis Suarez may no longer be in his utmost prime but is still a very dangerous player and with a manager like Diego Simeone behind him, there is no doubt that the duo can cause riots in Spain next season. Although Ronald Koeman is trying to reinvent the Barcelona squad, the unceremonious departure of Suarez may very well come back to bite him.

More from Everything Barca

Suarez is a known goal scorer, a beast of a player with an extremely aggressive playstyle. The player may no longer be a young talent that Koeman desires but his 21 goals last season show that he is still a very viable option upfront. Koeman, however, made it very clear that the Uruguayan was not in his plans the moment he became the manager. There were links between the striker and Italian giants, Juventus, but that deal never materialized especially after rumors spread about the players’ dismal hold over the Italian language.

A deal has now been finalized which will see Suarez head to one of Barca’s arch-rivals. Diego Simeone has been a long time admirer of the striker and had been praising him since his Liverpool days. The Madrid side even tried to bring the ex-Liverpool player from Liverpool when Diego Costa was heading towards Chelsea but they were unsuccessful. Now Simeone will have the pleasure of finally having the talent under his management.

The two could go on to be an extremely dangerous pair due to their competitive nature. Atletico’s
Squad is not as prolific as the Catalan side’s however, with players such as Joao Felix, Diego Costa, and Yannick Carrasco, the club will surely be one to fear next season.

Was letting Suarez leave the right decision?
