Marc-Andre ter Stegen saves the day for Barcelona once again.

Barcelona played Dynamo Kyiv over the past week in a midweek UEFA Champions League fixture. Barcelona went on to win the game 2-1 but it was not the entire story. The La Liga giants looked like they struggled a lot against a weaker side.

More from Everything Barca

Barca center-back Gerard Pique has stated that he is aware of the fact that his team was not in top form as they struggled against Dynamo Kyiv. He addressed this issue by stating that the team is going through a transition period. The Spaniard claims that it is going to be a long and rough road ahead in this season and maybe for another few upcoming seasons as well.

The Spanish international stated that his team were not confident against the Ukrainian side and lacked the correct motivation. It looked smooth on paper as Lionel Messi opened the scoring with a penalty and Gerard Pique doubled the club’s lead against Dynamo Kyiv right on the hour mark. However, the Ukrainians meant business and did not make it easy for the Spaniards. They pulled one back to scare the Catalans who were not at all confident that night, however, it wasn’t enough as Ter Stegen saved multiple shots made by Dynamo.

The Blaugrana went on to win the game and they became the fourth team to still stay unbeaten in all of their UEFA Champions League games so far. Manchester City, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Ronald Koeman’s Barca are the only sides to have won all their games so far in this year’s champions league campaign.

Koeman’s side, however, did not look graceful in their victory. Their confidence is at an all-time low and that can be witnessed easily through their performances. It will be considered a negative aspect because the Nou Camp is home to some outstanding football, possibly the greatest displayers of the game of all time. However, things have changed and a rebuilding campaign is on. It will take time but under the right leadership, good support by the board and the dedication from staff and players will make the Catalans great in next to no time again.
