Barcelona defender receives strong interest from Inter Milan.

Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan are interested in bringing in Barcelona left-back Junior Firpo in January as they still have a heavy interest in the youngster. According to many reports, the Nerazzurri could very well not be done with the former Real Betis left-back and they could go for him in the winter transfer window according to Calcio Mercato.

More from Everything Barca

The Serie A giants were heavily linked with the Barcelona left-back all throughout the 2020 summer transfer window. The Italian side even landed Real Madrid player Achraf Hakimi as their right back. They failed to match the demand of the Blaugrana, however, multiple top tiers now suggest that Conte will be planning a full swoop for the former Real Betis man.

The Catalans are planning to land two big signings in the January transfer window. They are looking to land Manchester City youngster Eric Garcia for a center back and Olympic Lyon’s Memphis Depay.

However, due to their current financial issues and a huge amount of debt, the club will have trouble funding these moves, even though they are not exactly considered big-money signings. Hence, to fund these moves they will be required to sell and offload players to receive profit and free up wages. They managed to sell multiple players in the summer transfer window including, Nelson Semedo, Luis Suarez, Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic, and Arthur Melo. These players may not have been sold for a good amount of money but the idea was to reduce the wage allocation of the club.

The sale of Junior Firpo in January will bring in more funds for the Catalan side to not only help recover money to fix their finances but also to invest in their targets. Hence, a move for the young left-back to Serie A and revive his extremely promising career will not be the worst-case scenario for him. Playing in a high line on the flanks under Conte might just bring out the best again in Firpo and he might finally match the standard he displayed at Real Betis.
