Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati suffers a major injury.

Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona went on to beat Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis over the weekend by five goals to two at the Nou Camp. However, the Blaugrana received only bad news at the end as youngster Ansu Fati was found injured. Club reports now suggest that the 18-year-old is down with a knee injury which will probably see him out for at least 3-5 months.

More from Everything Barca

There has been no sure confirmation about the duration of his time out so far but knee injuries usually take 3-4 months at a time. If the Spaniard recovers quickly then he can be back within several weeks.

This is a very huge dent in the current Barca squad as Fati is one of their very important players. The 18-year-old Spanish international has already scored five goals this season and provided a couple of assists too. At this young age, the forward was also awarded La Liga’s player of the month for September.

The young forward has been extremely key for the Catalans this season as he has started almost each and every game for the Blaugrana this season, even in the UEFA Champions League. This may have been a huge problem as he is at such a tender age and he’s starting regularly at this intensity. However, Koeman is going to have to look for replacements now. He’s got Francisco Trincao and Ousmane Dembele at his disposal but none of them will be able to match the youngster’s impact for this season so far.

Koeman will also have Philippe Coutinho as an option to play out wide as he returns from injury soon. The former Everton manager can also play Pedro out wide if needed as the 17-year-old has played out wide before. As for Fati, he may be out for quite some time now. Hopefully, he will be back soon and will continue to impress the Blaugrana with the same form and production.
