Barcelona have demanded Neymar to pay millions in overpaid amount.

According to reports from El Mundo, Barcelona are going to sue Neymar Jr. for a sum of 10 million euros which they overpaid during his time in Barcelona from 2013 to 2017. The Brazil international had been charged with tax evasion previously as well but however, this time it looks like the club was also at fault as they miscalculated his tax reduction.

The player spent an enjoyable spell with the Spanish Giants and he won 2 La Ligas and a UEFA Champions League trophy among a number of different other Trophies. The exit was, however, not as smooth as his time with the club. His motivation behind the move to Paris Saint-Germain was labeled as greedy and although Barcelona gained 222 million euros from his move, they were unable to acquire someone of his caliber.

It has now been found out from Spanish Tax offices that a sum of 11.8 million dollars (10 million euros) was miscalculated and that the Brazilan star benefited from this error. Barca will now be forced to ask back the amount from the player although it was partly their fault as well. Neymar’s tax evasion case is notorious in Spain as he managed to avoid severe consequences after not paying 34.6 million euros.

Even though the club and the player share a rocky relationship, the Catalans still tried to bring him back to Camp Nou several times. Their most recent bid of an undisclosed amount along with Ousmane Dembele was rejected last year. It is going to be quite impossible for them to sign him now, however, as the club is going through a deep financial crisis and they have to implement an immediate wage cut. A tax evasion case was the last thing that the club needed amidst the moment of such a crisis.

Neymar and his representatives have counter-claimed 44 million euros plus interest from the Catalan side, according to Marca. The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia will make the final decision in the coming weeks.

Would Barca still want Neymar to return to Camp Nou?
