However, it seems that the Frenchman might not stay. Earlier in the summer window, Barca were desperate to offload Dembele and were in talks with Manchester United over a possible loan deal. The talks failed and nonetheless, Dembele stayed at Camp Nou. In recent weeks, the 22-year-old is starting to show why he bought in the first place and is beginning to realize his potential. With his contract set to expire in 2022, Serie A giants Juventus are keeping close tabs on the World Cup winner, as per Calciomercato.

Juventus are eager to offload Cristiano Ronaldo even though he has been so good for them. This is largely because of the wage bill that he carries and the club is not in a position to cover his massive wages for the long run. The Old Lady probably believes that Dembele might be the best replacement available for Ronaldo.

For Barcelona however, things stand simple. If Dembele renews, well and good and if he does not, the Blaugrana simply needs to sell him before the start of the next season as at the end of the 2021/22 season, the Frenchman will walk out as a free agent and that will be a massive blow for the club.

Ousmane Dembele has the potential to carry the club’s legacy in the right direction. However, with a bit more focus on his fitness and workload management, he can truly develop into one of the best wingers in European football. With his pace and dribbling skills, he is certainly an asset for the Blaugrana when fully fit. So far, Ronald Koeman has utilized the services of the Frenchman quite well and it remains to be seen if that continues.
