Barcelona could join the race for one of Europe’s most sought-after players.

Barcelona were unable to sign Memphis Depay as a replacement for Luis Suarez. Based on how they’ve performed this season, it is evident that a striker is still very much in need.

With that in mind, the Catalans may be in pursuit of one of Europe’s most prolific striker as they now know how much they would need to pay.

More from Everything Barca

According to Sport, Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Haaland release clause has been revealed and is set at €75 million.

The 2020 Golden Boy has solidified his stature as one of the best strikers in Europe with the German side after joining from RB Salzburg.

The Norwegian has scored 17 goals across all competitions and provided two assists.

At just 20-years-old, he’s yet to reach his prime so it is very possible that he will only continue to get better.

What’s more is he’s proven that he has what it takes to play the important games and for a big side in Europe.

However, signing him will not be easy for Barcelona.

Clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid will likely also be interested as they all could do with a striker. They also are all in a better financial position than Barcelona.

On paper, the release clause looks reasonable. Any team who may be in for Haaland will need to factor in wages for the player as well as the commission for his agent, Mino Raiola.

In the past, Barca have been wary of dealing with the super-agent but may make an exception given Haaland could solve one of their main problems. A decision will ultimately be left to the new president and his board.

It is still the case that any potential signing will be conditioned by the need to sell first. The club needs a squad overhaul. They need to rebuild and Haaland could be an integral part of the rebuilding process.
