Barcelona technical secretary wants more depth in the squad.

Barcelona will have a rather busy and hectic few upcoming months due to the elections and the transfers. The new president will have a lot of work coming into this Barcelona side, firstly securing Lionel Messi to a new contract and then granting a few transfers to Ronald Koeman who is hanging on by a thread at the moment.

More from Everything Barca

The transfer of a new striker is very important at the moment and Koeman has chosen Memphis Depay to fill in that role. A new defender is also needed as the Catalans are facing a lot of defensive problems and they recently lost Gerard Pique to injury. They definitely need a new centre-back in January. According to reports and rumors, the transfer of Eric Garcia is as good as done however, the technical secretary of the club has suggested that they go for another defender as well.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca are also scouting a player from Olympique Marseille, who goes by the name of Boubacar Kamara. The 21-year-old is a youth academy graduate of the club and is being surrounded by big names including Blaugrana.

One of the biggest advantages that the player can bring to the club is his versatility. Not only is Kamara a brilliant centre-back, but he is also actually a defensive midfielder. He has the capability of playing in a number of different positions on the field which will be very useful for Koeman who needs to improve his squad depth.

Apart from his versatility, Kamara is also very strong and has a good amount of experience. He has already appeared in the Under 19 and Under 21 teams of France and is now awaiting a call from the first team. He is a regular at Marseille and given his form, it does not seem like anyone can take his spot. He is good at anticipation, great at heading and he is only 21 so has a lot of room for improvement.

The only problem for the Spanish giants will be the price tag which is set around 30 million euros. This should be expected, given the fact that he is a young and experienced player who starts for an elite club. Reports suggest that Bayern Munich and Manchester City have also been scouting the player thus Barcelona should make a move quickly. They might need to sell a player or two to accommodate his transfer but the player’s experience and talent should be worth it.

Should Barca sign Kamara?
