The former striker warns the Red Devils that if they do not pick up their form in the European competitions, the Portuguese midfielder could be on his way out to another elite club in search of more trophies.
Bruno Fernandes has been a sensation in the Theatre of Dreams to say the least. The 26-year-old made an instant impact on the team and his assists and goals have been helping out the team immensely. Any United fan could confidently say that Fernandes has been their best and most consistent player all season.
With 11 goals and six assists in 18 games across all competitions, he is well on his way to become a club legend if continues like this. The Portuguese has already bagged one player of the month this season and could go on to win many more; thus, Cole urges the club to buck up if they want to keep the player.
In an interview with The Target Men Podcast, the former United man said:
"“Bruno Fernandes doesn’t wear the captain’s armband but anyone watching this Manchester United team can see that he is the leader of the dressing room and he leads by example on the pitch. He’s a world-class quality player.”“It’s probably only a matter of time until there are rumors of a Barcelona and Real Madrid being interested in signing him and if Manchester United continue to not perform in the Champions League, no-one knows if his head could be turned in the years ahead.”Source Goal"
Their disappointing Champions League exit could also affect the player’s morale, who has been giving everything to the club. However, if their lackluster form continues, he may look for other options as every footballer puts achievements before money.
Fernandes has a contract with the Red Devils till 2024 but if things do not change around the club quickly, clubs such as Barcelona could swoop in and offer him a more lucrative deal. The Portuguese player would be a great fit at Camp Nou as well and would compliment the strikers up front as well as score goals regularly.
Should Barca consider signing Fernandes?
