Lionel Messi has found solace in youngster, Pedri.
Pedro González López, put in a fantastic display last night as Barcelona bested the then league leaders to climb to the fifth position. The Catalans played Real Sociedad last night and Pedri played a huge part in their victory. Although the game was a tough one, Barcelona kept the majority of possession, and Pedri’s second half game-winning tackle was, arguably, the best moment of the night.

After last night’s game, it is fair to say that 18-year-old Pedri deserves a lot more game time than he gets. He was an absolute running machine, going up and down the pitch, from helping out the attack to falling back to defend, he did it all. There was pure passion in the player’s eyes and even Lionel Messi recognized his potential yesterday.
Pedri had a good first half, putting in good passes for the forwards however, his second-half performance is what is making everyone on social media rave about him. His defense throughout the second half was spectacular and in the 72nd minute, he made a game-saving tackle. He ran back to help his center backs and put in a tackle which saved a sure shot goal.
The young talent hurt himself in the process as his legs collided pretty hard against the goalpost and he had to be subbed off after the incident. However, this showed his commitment for the club, and the fact that he got injured to win his side the match certainly puts a sentimental touch on the incident.
Lionel Messi was also seen encouraging the player throughout and giving him instructions. He also congratulated the player on his hard work and performance and will surely give him words of advice while he recovers from the injury. Messi loves to see such hardworking players as he himself used to train religiously when he was young.
The Argentine to this date has shown good ethics and professionalism on the pitch and in training and thus players like Pedri really lighten his mood. It will be good for the youngster to get direct training from the world’s best player and if youngsters such as Pedri and Ansu Fati keep on performing, it might just convince Messi to continue at Barcelona after the season is over.
