Barcelona Director of Football target, Jordi Cruyff, has multiple options
Jordi Cruyff is a desired man in Barcelona but has many alternatives.
The Presidential election for Barcelona football club is due on the 24th of January but with the new President, there will be a host of new faces in the club. These new characters and personalities will be forming the new board of directors. The club is currently being led by an interim president and board but all of this will soon change.

One position where the new president must think hard and long before filling will be the role of the new Director of Football. Both of the favorite presidential candidates, Victor Font and Joan Laporta want to bring in Jordi Cruyff, former Barca player and son of the legendary Johan Cruyff. The 47-year-old has recently returned to Blaugrana from China for the Christmas holidays.
He is currently the head coach for the Chinese Super League side, Shenzhen F.C. after resigning from the managerial position of Ecuador’s national team. The former Barcelona and Manchester United player has a number of options before him as even Ajax are considering him to be their new director.
Ajax’s current Technical director, Marc Overmars has confirmed that he will be leaving the position after nine long years and who else but Jordi Cruyff could fill that position. The Shenzhen manager has already contemplated that job in the past however, an offer from Barcelona would be hard to decline.
Taking into account that Jordi lives in the Catalan capital, it would be easier for him to take the Barcelona job as that would mean that he would be close to his family and he would not have to move to the Netherlands. The job at the club would be tough, however, as the Spanish giants are going through a big transitional phase and Cruyff would have to take a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders.
