Barcelona fixture could have played a role in Tuchel’s sacking.

Paris Saint-Germain sacked their manager Thomas Tuchel on Christmas Eve out of nowhere and the reports suggest that it might have something to do with the tie against Barcelona in February.

More from Everything Barca

The French giants sacked Tuchel and it really hit the fans hard as the former Borussia Dortmund man took this Paris Saint-Germain side to the UEFA Champions League final last year. They lost against Bayern Munich but it was an outstanding achievement to make the finals in the way that they did.

PSG have now planning to appoint former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino, according to multiple sources from Europe. The report suggests that the Parisians feel that the German coach will fail to deliver in their last 16 tie against Barcelona. The main goal for the board and owners and even the players is to win the UEFA Champions League and they came so close last season.

PSG fear that Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona side will be better than they are now by the time they meet in February. Hence, the Frenchman have already started preparing themselves as they cannot afford to crash out of another UEFA Champions League campaign.

Top sources have delivered the news that Pochettino will be taking over this Paris Saint-Germain side. It looks like as if the board wanted the new coach to come in beforehand and take time with the squad in order to give the team and the coach to test their chemistry and get in a good grove for the upcoming fixtures.

Tuchel’s sacking was a surprise for many as the former Borussia Dortmund coach delivered everything he possibly could with the current state of the squad. However, time is running out for the French giants to prove themselves in the biggest competition in Europe and it is not going to be easy.
