Barcelona have an election due on the 24th of January in 2021 as they will be appointing a new club president. That position is currently left vacant since the exit of Josep Maria Bartomeu as the Spaniard willingly resigned from his position in order to please the fans of the club.
Bartomeu was not exactly a fan favorite as he pulled many instances that did not benefit the club or the players in a positive manner. Club legend Lionel Messi has also claimed that Bartomeu had fed lies to him about the current and the future situation of the club in his latest open and exclusive interview with La Sexta.
The Dutchman has talked about offloading players in order to bring in funds and free up wages for new players to come in. Talented youngsters like Riqui Puig and Carles Alena are in no way part of the plans that Koeman has at the Nou Camp, hence their exits in the January or summer transfer window or even a loan will not be a surprising occurrence. Potential presidential candidate, Joan Laporta has plans of getting rid of Antoine Griezmann and Philippe Coutinho as the players have failed to deliver consistently and at a top-level for the Catalans, especially given the price tags at which they were signed on.
